MASKA. Anthropology Sociology Culture

MASKA is an interdisciplinary scholarly journal publishing research conducted by students, post-graduate students and junior researchers in the fields of humanities, cultural studies and anthropology. It has been published quarterly since 2007 by the Centre  for Comparative Studies of Civilizations at the Jagiellonian University. Each issue focuses on a different topic and is available as hard copies and electronic documents. The journal accepts texts in the Polish and English languages, whereas the last issue of every year is to be in English exclusively. Since 2013, MASKA has been entered on a prestigious grade B list of scored periodicals by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The journal is an open access periodic, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Call for Papers for an English issue of "MASKA" academic journal: MIGRATION – NOMADISM – LIFE IN MOTION

We invite contributors to submit papers for the next issue of the MASKA journal,
concerning themes presented below or other related to the topics of migration,
nomadism and life in motion.
 

Only English-language texts will be accepted for this edition.

Proposed themes:
- anthropological perspectives on migration and nomadism;
- globalization and migration;
- sociological and political aspects of migration, travelling and commuting;
- migration, nomadism and travels in literature, art, film, and popular culture;
- migration of ideas in religion, philosophy, literature, and art;
- migration/nomadism and the issue of borders;
- treshold and in-between spaces;
- migration and identity;
- transnational and diasporic cinemas, literature, art;
- new technologies and travelling;
- invisible migrants;
- migration and minorities.

Deadline: 31st October 2017
Date of issue: 31st March 2018


Papers (20,000-35,000 characters) together with the abstracts (500-800 characters)
attached should be sent by email to: redakcja.maska@gmail.com. Articles authored
by students or PhD candidates should be provided with a review of the text, written by
a faculty member with a minimum doctoral degree.

MASKA is featured on the List of Scientific Journals of the Polish Ministry of Science
and Higher Education. 7 points of academic achievement are granted for every paper
published in our journal.
